This past week we have started to read documents written in old English. At first, It was difficult to understand what the documents were stating because the style of writing and certain words were different.  However, when paraphrasing the lines in group it was easier to understand. Defining the unknown words were very helpful as well. 

To me it is still difficult to understand certain words but after defining them and being able to put the phrases in my own words it because easier to comprehend.

The US embassy, located in Pretoria Africa, made it clear that the United states government shut down will not affect Africa at all. They will continue with their services from the embassy and they are able to continue processing visa requests. 
This has a positive effect on the African people because they will still be able to receive services and visas from the U.S unlike many other places who have been affected by this shutdown.

On Saturday, September 22 members of Al-Qaeda linked military group, Al-Shabab, attacked a mall in Kenya. 68 people died, 175 were injured including 4 American citizens. The Al-Shabab terrorist stated they directly attacked non-muslims due to the Kenyans forces' 2011  moving into Somalia. They even threatened to attack again. 

This has a negative effect on the citizens of Kenya because they now have to live in fear knowing that this group can attack again at any time.

On Friday, September 13, the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) reported that the U.S will be starting agricultural trade with Sub-Saharan Africa. This trade mission will have a positive effect on both the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa. This is due to the fact the trade will cause these two places to establish a relationship as well as expand agricultural growth. These promising effects are actually getting small and medium businesses interested in the trade.
